🌟 Beyond the Brush Wins a Broward Innovation Grant!
I’m thrilled to share that my project, Beyond the Brush: The Essence of Creative Expression, has been awarded a Broward Innovation Grant!
This cross-disciplinary documentary and exhibition project celebrates six South Florida artists through film, visual art, and storytelling—bridging the gap between viewing art and truly understanding the artist behind it.
The project will debut at MAD Arts in Dania Beach, featuring six artist mini-documentaries, original artworks, and a community engagement program that includes "Storytelling Through the Lens: An Introduction to Filmmaking for Artists" and a live artist panel discussion.
I’m deeply grateful to the Broward Cultural Division, the Community Foundation of Broward, and MAD Arts, founded by Marc Aptakin, for their incredible support and commitment to empowering local artists.

Taimy Alvarez is an Emmy and Pulitzer Prize-winning Cuban-American photojournalist, filmmaker, and visual storyteller with nearly 30 years of global experience. Her work spans breaking news, international documentaries, and immersive travel series, always grounded in emotional depth, cultural richness, and visual integrity. She has photographed life across the Caribbean, Europe, the Mediterranean, and Asia—capturing intimate moments that reveal the soul of a place and its people.
As Director of Photography and lead editor for the global travel series WaterVoyagers and SailTrek. Taimy brings destinations to life through sensory-rich visuals and layered storytelling. Her ability to shoot with a minimal footprint allows for authentic, unobtrusive filmmaking, often using compact DSLR setups and lav mics to preserve trust and intimacy in the field.
Taimy is also a dynamic enrichment and destination speaker, represented by Blackburn International, and appears regularly on major cruise lines including Carnival and Celebrity Cruises.
